At Buddha Bella Healing Center, we are thrilled to introduce one of our newest teachers, Marie Rodriguez. Having recently completed our 200-hour Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training, Marie is also currently enrolled in our 200-hour Vinyasa Teacher Training. Her commitment to the yogic teachings and dedication to our studio are truly inspiring. We are grateful to welcome her to our lineage of teachers. Get to know Marie more below:
Q: What is your first and last name?
A: Marie Rodriguez
Q: How long have you been practicing yoga?
A: Almost 5 years.
Q: If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A: Kim Crawford Sauv Blanc and Dark Chocolate Almond Butter cups.
Q: What is your favorite yoga pose and why?
A: Balasana - Child’s pose. To me, it’s the perfect pose; it’s active and relaxing. It immediately recenters me and brings me right back into a space that reminds me why I’m doing the practice and gives me the strength to dig deep for a great session.
Q: What style(s) of yoga do you specialize in?
A: I have a background in Iyengar that allows me to be intentional with all poses when I lead Kundalini yoga class. I’m also certified in Hatha and am working on my Vinyasa and Tantra yoga teacher certifications.
Q: What is a fun fact about you that most people don't know?
A: I worked in the service industry for nearly 28 years. I have a ton of knowledge about craft beer and wine. I love pairing food and beer and wines together and discussing why (or why not) the pairing works.
Q: What is your favorite part about teaching yoga?
A: Kundalini yoga has saved my life—physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I love paying the experience forward to inspire someone in my orbit to light up physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
Q: What is your advice for someone new to yoga?
A: Be patient with yourself. You are on your mat for your personal experience, not to keep up with those around you.
Q: If you could swap lives with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?
A: My dog, Lydia Deetz. I’d love to experience the infinite love and bliss this soul experiences every day of her little life.
Q: If you were a yoga pose, which one would you be and why?
A: Tadasana - Mountain Pose. On the surface, it looks simple and effortless, but when done correctly, it is an active pose and can be quite complex energetically.
Q: Do you have a favorite quote or mantra that you live by?
A: I listen to Ho’oponono daily. This is the mantra I have running through my head whenever possible for myself: I love you. I’m sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.
Q: What's your go-to karaoke song?
A: I love karaoke! I have so many songs in my karaoke catalog! I sing Stevie Nicks as often as possible. The last time I sang karaoke in Old Town, I sang Salt N Pepa's "Shoop." 😆
